Making My Rounds At Comic-Con 2009

By Sarah, July 23, 2009 8:13 pm

If you’re one of the hundreds of thousands who are flocking to San Diego for Comic-Con 2009, come by and say hey to me at the Wired Cafe. I’ll be hanging out all day, everyday (or at least 10-5) spreading the good word about SocialVibe (who has a NEW homepage today, btw). Today was a great first day, had the opportunity to interview a few celebrities like Peter Facinelli, Olivia Wilde, and movie critic Ben Lyons. Met some great people from Toshiba, Wired, Nintendo, Patron, Havianas, and more.

All that is great, but my favorite part HAS to be the sea of ponytails and fanny packs. I’m telling ya, these comic book fans have a style all their own and I’M LIKING IT. Might have to replicate it when I’m back in LA.

Taking plenty of video, here’s a little snippit from early on in the day before the real madness began:

P.S. Isn’t that screengrab courtesy of YouTube the best? I look like Sloth. HEYYY YOUUUU GUUYYYYYS!

IOWAtasmic – Come See Me Speak On My Birthday

By Sarah, July 8, 2009 3:13 pm

I’m back from Nashville just in time to tell you something very important: my star is rising. Alright, I’m totally kidding (not THAT vain), but I am proud to announce that someone actually thinks I am smart/funny enough to invite me to speak at a conference – IOWAtasmic, the first ever Iowa Tech and Social Media Interactive Conference. I’ve never even been to Iowa! Ok, that’s a lie too… I have been to Waterloo.

This particular conference will be in Mount Pleasant, taking place on September 18-20, 2009. My birthday is September 18, so you can be sure to find me out celebrating by tipping a cow or two with a couple unnamed friends who are also presenters.

Sure, it’s Iowa, but look at the line-up. It’s totally worth it… I am in GREAT company. Registration starts July 18, but you can win a free pass by following @IOWAtasmic and trending #iowatasmic from now until July 10 at 7PM CT.

Leaving SXSW Interactive 2009… A l33t Tag

By Sarah, March 19, 2009 3:54 pm

I just left the most geeky, techy and AMAZING conference of my life. 2009 SxSW Interactive in Austin, TX. I went on behalf of SocialVibe, spreading the good word about raising donations for your favorite causes via branded widgets, but I left with much more than business contacts – I left with new friends. Techy friends. LA friends. Social media friends. Memorable moments (some of which I can’t remember).

I could do a post recapping the entire experience, if you’re interested, but for now I think I’ll just share ironic claim tag on my baggage:

Counting down to next year already….

I'm Going, Going, Back, Back to Cali, Cali. Bye BlogWorld!

By Sarah, September 22, 2008 12:06 pm

A few words I could use to describe this weekend at BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas:

Fun. Amazing. Inspiring. Wild. Unpredictable. Educational. Exhausting.

I begun this trip as a total Vegas n00b and now as I sit in the airport enjoying the free WiFi (an hour early for my flight back to Los Angeles) and trying my damnedest to stay awake, I am beginning to understand all the cliches about Sin City. And even though I look back and think to myself, “maybe I should have taken better advantage of that killer hotel room and used it for SLEEPING more than a few hours,” I don’t regret a second of it!

If you are a blogger, work in social media, social networking, internet marketing, or any related field, I HIGHLY recommend visiting BlogWorld next year. Absolutely the most beneficial tool I have encountered yet. The panels and speakers were enlightening, informative and inspiring. The fellow bloggers I had the pleasure of meeting, chatting with, and even dancing with – were nothing short of amazing. I deeply admire you all and am thankful we had the opportunity to share this experience.

Just a few shout-outs:

Micah Baldwin, Muhammad Saleem, Tessa, Steve Hall, Eric, Rich Page, Jeremy, Adam Ostrow, Brett Petersel, Reem Abeidoh, Pete Cashmore, Jesse Stay, Adam Jackson … and so many more.

I look forward to putting this information to use in the near future and developing these awesome new relationships with all of you.

And now, a return to normalcy. PLEASE.

Update from BlogWorld 2008 in Las Vegas

By Sarah, September 21, 2008 12:38 pm

You know as well as I do that no one loves writing about girly tech products more than me. But after tonight, I’m thinking of making a switch to blogging about fancy hotels, simply because of the opportunities I’d get to come stay in pretty rooms like the one I have at the Venetian right now. I must be learning disabled, though, because it took me at least 30 minutes to figure out how to use the remote controlled curtains. So much for being the Tech Darling.

Your favorite blogger, TechDarling!

BlogWorld 2008 is off and running, and it’s been absolutely insane. In a good way! Sat in on some really great panel discussions about Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Marketing & New Media, as well as Blogging & PR. Some amaaazing panelists. Hung out with some current friends from maxgladwell.com and sodahead.com, and made some new friends at ideablob.com, blogcatalog.com, mashable.com, memelabs.com, and apture.com.

Now I’m off to the Zappos.com party at Planet Hollywood.

TechDarling is Going to BlogWorld

By Sarah, September 19, 2008 11:01 pm

I might be missing the festivities tonight (TechSet party would have been fun, boo hoo), but I won’t miss a second of the action this weekend in Las Vegas. I’m off to BlogWorld Expo this weekend, for the first time ever. I’ll be representing SocialVibe, along with TechDarling, and I’m looking forward to meeting all you fabulous bloggers out there!

Can’t wait to see what this weekend brings, and what I bring back from this weekend! Believe it or not it’ll be my first time in Vegas. I’m finally cracking! I’m staying at the Venetian, though, so at least I’ll be comfortable.

Seeing as I’m still recovering from birthday overload, I haven’t even started packing. I guess I should get on that!

Are you gonna be at BlogWorld? DM me on Twitter and lets meet up!
