Interior Design Geek Chic. A Circuit Board Rug.

By Sarah, July 2, 2009 12:30 pm

I’m currently obsessed with the idea of decorating my apartment (which I pay an arm and a leg for… though it is quite beautiful) and although I probably wouldn’t incorporate this latch hook circuit board rug into the overall look, it is pretty amazing.

It looks super soft… and is impressively similar to the actual circuit board it was modeled after.

Now that’s a great looking circuit board. I would definitely hang a photo of that on my wall.

Binary Code Keeps Programmers Warm & Cozy at Night

By Sarah, June 5, 2007 2:41 pm

I’m not even a programmer and I want this. This enormous black blanket and coordinating pillow are covered in neon green ascii Binary 0s and 1s. The blanket’s reverse is green with black numbers. It’s 85% acrylic and 15% polyester, making it nice and warm – perfect for those late nights spent coding… you know you’ve done it. Cuddle up with this and you just might be dreaming in code all night long.

The pillow is $14.99 and the blanket is $39.99 from ThinkGeek.com. BTW- do you have a tech loving Dad? Father’s Day is coming up.. this could be a good gift!

Another Useful Product For All You Lazies

By Sarah, March 19, 2007 2:31 pm

Just what we need, another product to promote laziness.  No wonder America is suffering from an obesity epidemic.  No one has to get up off their butts to do anything anymore.  Turn on the TV, go shopping, whatever it is you need to do – chances are there is a gadget out there to do it for you, all from the comfort of your own chair (which, you may have actually fused with by now, lazy).  I really shouldn’t complain, because lets face it, this stuff is cool, and anything that saves us time is great.  But this, is ridiculous.

The epitome of laziness:   the Self-Stirring Coffee Mug.  That’s right, ladies & gentlemen, no longer do you have to torture yourself, rotating your wrist in a dreadful circular motion to get all the cream and sugar dissolved in your coffee (you poor thing!)  This battery-operated stainless steel coffee mug looks like any other boring mug, but with the push of a button it begins whirring its contents around.

Now all we need is a robotic arm to actually lift the mug to our mouths so we don’t have to keep using our arms.  What a pain in the ass.

How To Have A Techy Romance

By Sarah, February 26, 2007 4:40 pm

Everyone needs a little romance, even geeks. Shoot, especially geeks! Here are a couple ways to let technology enhance your intimate moments.

ledcandlesHow many times have you forgotten to blow out the candles, only to awake to a burning set of drapes? Personally, I never have. But the thought of my cat knocking over a candle or burning her whiskers off trying to “smell” it isn’t too pleasant (and the burning smell of cat hair isn’t that great either). A much safer, yet still romantic, option, are these "blow-on/off" LED candles by ThinkGeek.

Not only are they preeeeeeetty, but they’re NOT ON FIRE. Maybe the only downfall is that they aren’t scented, which is one of my favorite things about burning candles, but you’d be better off focusing on the perfume of your lover anyways. The price is a small one to pay, considering the danger that comes with a flame in your home. These candles vary in size and price, from $12 to $15.

electronicicebucket_smallNext time you’re in the "romantic mood" with your S.O., or even better, trying to forget him while enjoying a bottle of champagne or wine with your girlfriends, this Electronic Ice Bucket will come in handy.  It’s battery operated, so electric shock from the ice inside the bucket is a non-issue.  Simply select the type of beverage (white, red, or blush wine, sparkling, etc), place sensor in the wine, and wah-lah… it lets you know when it’s cold enough for maximum enjoyment.  No muss, no fuss.  Product by Frontgate, runs about $40.
